A brave look at a relationship developing between a woman surrogate and her young patient. The film manoeuvres beautifully between the sexual therapy, and the family story holding a painful secret.

Wonderful cinematography of Radek Ladczuk.
Impressive editing by Aya Somech.

Desert Brides
Director: Ada Ushpiz

Ushpiz' film deals with great talent with an important subject that has not been exposed in this way until now - the sacrifices made by Bedouine women today. About 40% of Bedouine women are forced to live in polygamous families, against their will.
In Desert Brides we learn about the lives of three of them.
The filmmaker was able to tell a fascinating and touching tale, and create a film in which the cinematic qualities are as impressive as its' important message.

Ajuim
Smadar Shteinberg

In an ultra orthodox Jewish Jerusalem neighbourhood, an 11 year old girl looks out of her window on her neighbour, who is also her teacher, and who is pregnant from her married lover. The synopsis creates a rich, real world, and the original story is touching. It has apparent literate qualities based on the writer's short story. It has depth and poetry, and is told in a highly sensitive way with much love.

Ben Zaken
Efrat Corem

With laconic and precise writing, the writer is able to present a closed world with no way out and no hope of a mother, her son and a granddaughter.
Through the cinematic language which the writer uses, one can feel at this early stage the suffocating and distressed atmosphere.
