GreetingsThe Israel Film Council
I am happy to greet the International Women’s Film Festival, its participants, guests and organizers. During these six years the festival has become a center of attraction for filmmakers from Israel and the world, as it grants their films a unique stage. The festival also carries a world social mission, through a wide and unique multicultural gathering of women’s cinema. I positively mention the fact that the festival works to preserve, expand and empower the participation of women filmmakers. The Israel Film Council works for proper representation of women in the film industry and we see great importance in the International Women’s Film Festival, which advances Israeli filmmakers and allows them significant and intense exposure. I would like to take this opportunity to felicitate Gila Almagor on her 70th birthday on her various activities in culture and film, and on her contribution to Israeli film in general and the design of the woman character in it in particular. We are happy to take part in the festival and support the celebrations of her 70th birthday with a special program that would focus on the effect her wide variety of roles has on the female character in Israeli film. I wish the festival’s guests an interesting cultural meeting and a rich intensive week of film by women and about women. Sincerely, Micha Harish, Chairman The Israel Film Council ![]() Back |
