The Graduates

A tribute to women graduates from the Department of Film and Television at the Tel Aviv University

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Department of Film and Television at the Tel Aviv University, the International Women's Film Festival will hold a special tribute to women graduates of the department. The event will consist of screenings of selected student films directed by prominent women graduates of the department in the past 40 years.
Who are the graduates of the Department of Film and Television? 40 years have passed since the creation of the department; has the number of women in it changed? Have the jobs held by women in productions changed? Have the women graduates entered the local industry and changed its face? And have the senior graduates paved the way now securely followed by the younger ones?
To try and answer these questions, the Department of Film and Television chose around 20 prominent women graduates from the first decade of its creation up to the current one, who integrated in the the film and television industry in Israel. Through them and their personal experience we shall examine the development of feminine creation and the place of women in the local industry.
This fascinating mosaic of women will help us try and understand the nature of changes from the 1970s to our time.
