Lady Chatterley

France, 2006

Writer and Journalist Avirama Golan presents Lady Chatterley:
A sixth film adaptation of the notorious book by D.H. Lawrence that caused riots when it first appeared in 1928. This is the first adaptation directed by a woman. The film tells the story of young lady Connie Chatterley, married to an aristocrat that returns home from war in a wheelchair and withdraws to a forlorn and frown existence. She discovers her desires in the hands of the reticent gamekeeper, who gradually and profoundly opens up to himself and to her. Director Pascale Ferran recruits nature itself to represent female sexuality. The more Connie Chatterley gets away from the estate's frozen spaces and deeper into the woods, the stronger images and colors appear on screen. Nature raps this couple, encourages the body to erupt and to merge, and creates resonance and scope which are beyond time, place and class. The sensual and subtle film won five César awards and Best Actress award in Tribeca festival 2007.

After the screening there will be a conversation with Avirama Golan.
